Pathfinders Inverell have teamed up with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Support Group to cook a free barbecue in front of the council chambers in honour of Social Inclusion Week today.
“Everyone has an important role to play in the community, whether they’ve got a disability or not,” Ability Links co-ordinator Brett Pischke said.
Mr Pischke said Pathfinders were promoting the week alongside the Inverell Shire Council, who embraced the concept earlier this year by creating an Inclusion Action Plan to improve access for everyone.
“People with a disability have a lot to give back to the community,” Mr Pischke said. He said that he and Ability Linker Rhiannon Summers were keen to promote this to business owners, community members and visitors.
