Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall congratulated owner Greg Symes and his team on the renewal of their five-year contract.
“Symes Coaches has been providing this service to Countrylink customers for over 24 years now and the renewal of their contract is an indication of the confidence NSW TrainLink has in the company and the service they provide,” Mr Marshall said.
“The new contract has a strong customer service focus and includes new performance standards to help drive improvements in the industry.
“Symes Coaches have recently purchased a new coach for their Moree to Grafton route which runs six days a week and will be brought into service early in the new year.
“They will also continue to provide a return service on the Inverell to Tamworth and Armidale to Tamworth routes.
“It’s certainly a great outcome for Symes Coaches and their customers, and I congratulate them on the quality of service they have provided for so many years.”
Mr Symes said the company was delighted to have its contracts renewed and was committed to continuing to provide a first class experience for all their customers.
“We’ve been doing this for 24 years, and since NSW TrainLink has seen fit to continue with our contract, we must be doing a good job,” Mr Symes said.
“Being an Inverell company, this contract provides security of employment to locals and it has given us the confidence to put on an apprentice, so it’s an excellent outcome for all of us.
“The new coach will be put into service early in the new year on the Moree to Grafton route and it offers individual reclining seats, on-board storage above seats and a new vehicle location system allowing customers to access real time data on service delays, departure and arrival times.”
The new contracts are for five years, with the option of a three-year renewal based on performance.
