At Macintyre High School, year 10 took time in work experience which is a whole week to attend their choice of work place.
It might be veterinary, schooling, journalism or health, getting the feel of an everyday job in the real world.
There was a range of students at Inverell Public School participating in their work experience course.
The opportunities in an education experience are endless from learning how to teach kids, to deal with certain situations and just one-on-one time with the children. The high school students learnt and were shown the skills in their work place while engaged in work-experience.
At Inverell public each student was signed to a class of a different age group.
“Everything we do is for the children,” Macintyre’s Jessica Rodgers said.
Maths, creative art, science and English were some of the basics work experience students helped the younger students.
“I enjoyed helping the kids understand questions and teaching them games,” student Catherine Borgas said.
Throughout the week students were shown what the real side to the jobs were, eventually giving the students their own opinion and idea of the work itself.

“Teaching is for the patient ones,’’ student Sophie Ditchfield said wryly.
As every week-long job was different for each individual, the placement might have left the student more in depth about their experience.
“I appreciate my teachers now in primary school from my experiences,” Sophie said.
Every chance and experience was different for every student. It may not have been what they expected but each took the opportunity.
“I can’t really say my best moment because the whole experience has been good,” Jordyn Goddard said
As the week finished up, the experience ended but hopefully the young students of Macintyre High learnt from the experience and possibly could see a future career.
