But this year’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year have received just that – with their names solidified within the pavement at Victoria Park.
“I’m not sure who nominated me for it and it was a nice surprise for me,” Young Citizen of the Year Hannah Wales said.
“I’ve been invited to speak at the International Women’s Day forum in a few weeks time so I’m very excited for that.”
Mayor Paul Harmon said the ‘walk of fame’ was one small way the community could say ‘thank you’.
“It never ceases to amaze the commitment that members of the Inverell community have and the way they get involved in the community,” he said.
Citizen of the Year Danny Middleton said it was wonderful to be recognised for his efforts in the community.
“It’s an honour to receive this award and be named in the pavement among all of these other wonderful citizens,” Mr Middleton said.
