It's a cloudy Sunday at Victoria Park. The grass is damp, but the founding members of the newly-created Inverell Dark Ages and Medieval Society trudge through the sludge for their sausage sizzle. With monthly meetings, the group will reenact Viking-Age military tactics, fashion, cuisine and medieval dance as authentically as possible.
By forging ties with other reenactment groups, they hope to eventually represent Inverell at festivals. At the end of the day, what matters most is the escape from everyday life.
