The Gwydir Highway is closed in both directions in Delungra (west of Inverell) due to a car crash.
A car has hit a power pole and has brought down wires so crews will need to carry out repairs.
Light vehicles travelling west are being diverted off the highway into Gragin Road, Long Street and Stephen Street to Warialda.
Westbound heavy vehicles will need to use Delungra Road/Bingara Road and Allan Cunningham Road.
Both diversions are the same in reverse.
Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance reported earlier this morning that a patient was being assessed on the scene after a single vehicle had gone into a pole. At that stage, no major injuries seem to have occurred and the person would be transported to Warialda Hospital for treatment.
