The owners of Vince Strang Motorcycles, or VSM as it is often referred to, Janelle and Vince Strang have organised a sausage sizzle to mark the milestone, as well as the 21st anniversary of Suzuki’s DR650se model being sold in Australia.
“Our early involvement with the DR650se in the Australian Safari in 1996 and ’97 primed VSM as the ‘go to’ store for DR650’s and up-grade parts to customise them”, Vince said.
“We now sell them all over Australia set up in many different configurations, such as full touring adventure bikes to station bikes for outback properties.”

The Vince Strang Motorcycles celebrations are combining with the Adventure Riders Magazine Northern Congregation being held at Green Valley Farm over the weekend.
Several hundred motorcyclists have booked to attend the event, where lots of the Suzuki DR riders will receive random draw prizes provided by Suzuki, Pirelli tyres, Motul oils, Motorbikin Adventure DVD company and VSM.
Vince and Dual Sport Mapping have combined to provide two interesting routes to travel from the VSM store on Saturday morning to the Green Valley event.
Because of the roughness of parts of these tracks they are mostly set out for the DR and DRZ Suzuki adventure bike riders.
At the Green Valley event, there will be several demo Suzuki adventure bikes available for test rides as well as a number of demonstrations and “how to’s” from Vince and other companies.
It’s a long way from September 17, 1977, when Vince first opened the door of the tiny motorcycle shop in Vivian Street, Inverell.
“I had been in New Zealand for a couple of months racing and repairing off road bikes and when I returned I felt I needed a change,” Vince said.
“The opportunity arose to start my own business with the late Mac McCulloch so we purchased the existing small motorcycle side of Jack Griffin Bicycles.

“The Suzuki bikes and stock were moved into a small building in the lower end of Vivian Street.
“The business grew very quickly and soon moved to a new building in Byron Street and then after only two years moved to our present position at the intersection of Byron and Swanbrook Road.
Vince and Janelle purchased Mac’s share in 1984 and changed the name from MS motorcycles to Vince Strang Motorcycles.
The business has since continued to grow and has added other prime brands to the product line; Husqvarna in 1984, Honda Motorcycles in 2005 and Can-Am off road vehicles.
