Retired farmer Dave Doak said the group of black Angus cross and some red cattle was last seen two to three weeks ago on his property at 88 Toms Drive, due east of the sale yards.
The stock were new to the area, having been bought and delivered just two weeks before their disappearance from a yard by the Macintyre River.
“They may have crossed [the river] and where they went from there I don’t know,” Mr Doak said. “They could have gone on to Yetman Road or Ashford Road.”
The cattle had NLIS ear tags ending with the digits 986, 059, 104 and 543.
Formerly a grazier from Bundarra, Mr Doak said he bought the steers “to keep the grass down and make a bit of money.”
“I’ve been farming all my life and you can’t give up everything,” he said.
Anyone with information that may be able to assist in locating the steers is asked to please contact Mr Doak’s family on 6721 3779 or mob 0435 794 931.
