“This is the first time I’ve been on stage for a very long time and I’ve had lots of fun,” Sharon Staader said. Playing the shrewd Aunt Laura in comedy Careful Rapture, Mrs Staader had a ball with her on stage sister Natasha West (as Joan).
The pair team up in an effort to split mismatched couple Peggy and Ted. High school teacher Jade Bradley had no trouble finding inspiration for 19-year-old Peggy, while Peter Caddey had the audience rolling in the aisles with the clumsy Ted.
The fast paced comedy contrasts with Conversations with a Clown, a drama led by Maggie Thomas as Canny, which explores the dark side of a young girl’s psyche.
“It brought tears to my eyes,” Mrs Staader said.
Travelling to Bingara’s Roxy Theatre this Saturday, the production will return to Inverell’s Beaulieu Theatre next week. Tickets are available at Tourism Inverell.
