“It’s very pressured time for people. You’ve got all these mixed emotions,” Reverend Jean Bell said.
Anyone at a loose end on Christmas Day is invited to come along to the Uniting Church’s $15 community lunch at their hall on Rivers Street.
“Christmas for me, it’s about giving. It’s about giving your time. It’s about responding to the gift of love given to us through Jesus, who has given us a pretty good example of how to live together,” Reverend Bell said. She said that making other people happy gave her joy.
“It’s appreciating the simple things of life, and that’s the relationships, the friendships - and remembering those on the edges as well as those that are mightily important to you.”
Although last minute guests will not be turned away, locals planning on going are asked to book and pay by Tuesday, December 19 for catering purposes. To learn more, call 6721 1055.
