Christmas is here. Literally, right here on our doorstep in Inverell. And the spirit of the season was everywhere to be found at this year’s Elfin Crazy Festival of Christmas.

There were elves aplenty leaving behind trails of glitter sprinkling from their costumes as they traipsed between the stalls and displays. The pitter-patter of their little elfin feet could be heard all the way to the bouncing castles, face-painting stall and photo booth.
There was also food aplenty and so many free samples that it almost seemed as though the Eat, Drink, Live New England Festival had revisited the town. The free food did not discourage people from splurging on a meal at one of the local cafes, while the Wade Street butcher’s stall drew a queue that stretched for a block.
Nobody minded the wait, as there was plenty to see. There were fashion shows with local faces on the catwalk – or if you like, the sidewalk. And in the distance, there was a hullabaloo as Dr Hubble worked his bubble magic on the children so eager to burst his man-sized blobs. Nearby, at the Emporium, snowflakes danced into the open mouths of kids.
With so much going on, it isn’t surprising that crowds showed up in droves to support the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
