The festival is a place where east meets west with Asian cuisine and culture.
The first Chinese people arrived in Tingha during the discovery of tin in the area in the 1870s. The population boomed as 6,000 people arrived, with more than 25 per cent of miners being Chinese.
The Chinese Lantern Festival is a reminder of this heritage. People are encouraged to come dressed in oriental-styled clothing.
A Chinese smorgasbord is available at $25 per person, $2 for under 15s. Call Audrey McArdle at 02 67233361 to book.
