Inverell Police Inspector Rowan O’Brien confirmed that unknown persons “set alight boxes stacked up at the rear of the Tingha SES unit.”
The fire was lit when the police station was empty as law enforcement agents were out on patrol.

The fire caused damage to the rear wall of the Tingha police station, jointly shared by the SES unit.
There is currently smoke and water damage throughout the complex, and further inspections will be carried out by an electrician and builders to consider the next course of action.
The building is structurally sound, however the smoke and water damage makes it uncomfortable for the police officers to work.
Inverell police are currently investigating the incident and are speaking with the people who first alerted the fire brigade and helped in the firefighting efforts.
Police have canvassed surrounding businesses and residence, sought CCTV footage and are in the process of collating information.
They are calling for assistance from anybody who may have information about fire. The public are invited to call 67220599.
