Outsiders vaguely know the town from the occasional road sign spotted on their way to the Gold Coast. But there’s more to Inverell than meets the eye. And there are more than 5 reasons why we’re lucky to be living here right now.
People. Inverell, at the moment, is a town just big enough to be interesting, but small enough for people to have meaningful relationships and make a real difference. The community spirit is fundamental to making things happen, and it all begins with kindhearted people and their willingness to help each other and build together a beautiful town.
Hospital. When you have health and well-being, then you’re pretty much set for the good life. And life just got a little bit better for the residents of Inverell thanks to MP Adam Marshall’s triumphant announcement on Wednesday. Finally, after many years of community campaigning and the special efforts of people like Bob Bensley, the much-anticipated $30 million Inverell District Hospital redevelopment is set to begin construction this year. Better still, there’s hope for even more funding for a major health overhaul.
Flights. It was another historic Wednesday on September 13, 2017, when the first Fly Corporate Inverell-Brisbane flight took off. There was fanfare as we all gathered at the refurbished airport to enjoy the result of the collective efforts of men like Neil Eigelend of the Inverell Air Services Working Group, working with Inverell Shire Council and Inverell Chamber of Commerce. The lights may have dimmed but the service is doing extremely well, bringing the rest of the world a little bit closer to our town.
Agriculture. Inverell is a place blessed with abundance, and this year was one of the best for our local beef growers and sheep graziers thanks to returns that have continued to climb. And to further boost the local economy are industries like Boss Engineering, that just celebrated 10 years in the business, while Bindaree Beef is continuing to grow.
Energy. There’s a renewable energy boom and Inverell is taking the lead thanks to the construction of the Sapphire Wind Farm and White Rock. The area is perfect for this development. According to MP Adam Marshall, “we are quickly becoming the renewables capital of NSW,”
And the list doesn’t end here. There are many reasons for us to be happy in this amazing town we live in. What would you like to add to the list?
