On a dollar for dollar basis the club was able to purchase new guttering through the Inverell Shire Council Local Heritage Assistance Fund which was successfully replaced last weekend with a concerted effort by club members.
Being a building of 110 years vintage the guttering had to be a "special order" and took quite a bit of sourcing, however, it was eventually sourced and delivered allowing club members to replace the existing guttering that had numerous leaks impacting on the wooden verandah boards and foundation.
The Inverell Club President, Dayne Rosolen commented that water is the biggest "enemy" to preserving heritage buildings and on behalf of the club extended thanks to Inverell Shire Council for their tolerance in supporting the club both financially and by allowing a time extension when they initially had delays in sourcing the correct guttering profile and down pipes.
Members of the club are proud to preserve the iconic building which has continuously provided a significant social and cultural role for the Inverell community.
