SCHOOLS across the region will have an opportunity to secure funding from the NSW Government to enable new types of hands-on and environmentally conscious learning, Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced today.

Mr Marshall said applications for the NSW Environmental Trust’s Eco Schools Grant Program would open on Monday, 30 April.
“This program offers schools grants of $3,500 to help build student’s passion for the environment, through creating fun and non-traditional outdoor learning spaces,” Mr Marshall said.

“Previous grants have built an indigenous bush food/medicine walk at the Armidale Waldorf School, built a ‘living classroom’ at Yetman Public School and a bush tucker garden at Bingara Central School.
“With 80 grants on offer for this year’s round of the Eco Schools Grants program, I’d like to see local schools make the most of this opportunity.”
Mr Marshall said the grants would help students discover more about the natural environment with hands on and practical learning.
“The grants can be used to support a variety of environmental projects from edible and sustainable eco-gardens, waste audits and learning about enhancing native habitat,” he said.
“Grants this year will be offered to student focused environmental management projects, including litter and waste reduction, water and energy conservation, bush regeneration, habitat improvement and food gardens.”
All NSW schools can apply for funding as long as they have not received funding under the previous 2017 round.
Grant applications can be submitted until Monday, 18 June 2018.
