Some thought he was a statue and jumped in fright when he moved, but others were impressed and rushed to have a photo taken with him.
The knight, Cearl, is a member of the Inverell Reenactment Society that kicked off less than a year ago and already has 14 committed members and another five showing an interest. But the point of his visit to the pharmacy was not to gather more members but to raise money.
He sold Mother’s Day raffle tickets to passers-by. First prize is for a family portrait from Snap Photography valued at $90, second prize is for a $50 gift voucher from Amcal Pharmacy and third prize is $20 worth of handmade soaps.
Cearl will be returning to the pharmacy to sell more raffle tickets, possibly this coming Friday and would welcome a raffle ticket sale or two and a friendly word. Don’t be afraid, he’s not as menacing as he looks (even though he carries a real sword)!
Or if you want to see the Inverell Reenactment Society in action, attend their session at Cameron Park at 3-6pm on April 29 that will be followed by a barbeque.
