Bulldogs ran away from the Saints in the first quarter at the weekend.

Although the Saints regrouped and put on a particularly gutsy display in the third quarter, they were never in the hunt with the Bulldogs cruising home to a comfortable win. 

The Saints take on New England Nomads this Saturday at Varley Oval.

Final Score: Gunnedah Bulldogs 15.10-100 defeated Inverell Saints 6.12-48.

Meanwhile, Inverell Saints Womens team faced off with the Tamworth Kangaroos in a grand final rematch, at Ladies day in Narrabri. 

In a great display of footy the Saints took an early lead but were then held scoreless in the second quarter. 

The saints women then turned the table on the Kangaroos by holding them scoreless in the third quarter. 

The final term saw the Inverell Saints women hold on for a well deserved hard fought win, with four young guns named in the best. 

Inverell Women play the New England Nomads next Saturday at Varley Oval.

Final Score: Inverell Saints  4.5-29   defeated    Tamworth Kangaroos  3.9-27.

Saints’ juniors enjoyed a week off but will prepare to take on the New England Nomads this Saturday at Varley Oval.

All games should be entertaining and one to watch at the 2018 Tamworth AFL season well and truly gets underway.

Also, Inverell Saints Young Guns – Kelsie Julius, Kayla Sims and Sophie Kastelein have been selected to play in the NIAS/Southern Sports Academy AFLW Academy Games this weekend at Newcastle. 

The Inverell girls will be joined by Montana Harvey from Glen Innes and Daisy George from Tamworth. 

Head NIAS coach Alan Martin believes the girls will handle themselves very well in the under 16 competition. 

“These girls have been playing open women’s footy against stronger and bigger players.

“The NIAS have got the fitness to run against the younger girls at the Academy Games, plus they’ve developed pretty good skills.”

Seventeen-year-old Kyla Hamilton will travel with the girls as an assistant to the team.

Over 300 girls from around the state will compete at the Academy Games with the best 22 to be selected for the State team at the weekend.
