Featuring in division two’s B grade will be Alwyn Miller- a local rider who has place in both B and C grades in prior Grafton to Inverell Cycles along with Jason Sprang.
Local builder Zak Sunderland will also race in B grade, and after finishing well in 2016’s cycle he hopes to improve in 2018.
“I finished in the front group two years ago and I’m looking to do that again with some improvements to my time,” he said.

Sunderland’s training has consisted of around 15 hours on the bike each week for the past six months.
He said weather would play in as a big factor with block headwinds expected from the west and temperatures down to 10 degrees around Glen Innes.
Inverell’s only C grade rider, Peter Lang, also had concerns regarding the weather forecast heading into Saturday.
A now seventh time over participant Lang was happy with his 2016 efforts finishing in the third bunch.

“I’ve been training since October doing indoor trainer sessions and some specific training on the road as well as riding with the local bunch.”
Hoping for a top 10 placing, the Grafton to Inverell rider said his biggest challenge would be maintaining position with the front group through Gibraltar Range.
“I’ve never been able to do it in the past so I’ve been training specifically to maintain position and with weather conditions it’ll be about using the least amount of energy,” he said.

Lang decided to take on Grafton to Inverell in 2018 whilst preparing for another cycling event overseas in July.
“I thought well if I’m going to be fit for Europe, I may as well compete it the Grafton to Inverell this year.
“It is a pinnacle cycling event for Inverell and northern NSW riders and quite a prestigious one to win.” Be sure to keep an eye and ear out for these four local names on Saturday afternoon as they ride into Victoria Park.
