Rock and roll, old-timey sounds and even hoedowns will be on the agenda for the evening of fun, music and dancing at the Elsmore Memorial Hall from 6.30pm on Saturday, June 16. Hosted by the hall committee, all funds raised will go towards the Inverell Breast Cancer Support Group.
“I’ve been wanting to do it for quite a while,” committee president Mavis Ting. She has seen the good work the support group does, and said that seeing a close friend undergo a mastectomy convinced her that it was the right time to host the event.
Local couple Peter and Vicky Denovan will join Christine Harmon in providing live music for the evening. Ms Ting was thrilled with the trio’s generosity in donating their time and skills for the cause.
“I’d love to see (locals) there,” Ms Ting said.
“They don’t have to dance if they don’t want to. Just come and listen to the music.”
The hall will be heated, and lucky door prizes and raffles will be up for grabs. Attendees are encouraged to bring a plate for supper. The cost for admission is $10.
The hall committee are looking for a local with a Light Rigid driver’s licence willing to drive a 20-seater bus from Inverell to Elsmore for the event.
