Joining 106 cars and over 300 people, the pair travelled from Newcastle up to Nundle for the first leg of the journey. They will make their way through Glen Innes and Tulloona, Narrabri, Forbes, west to Griffith and back towards Newcastle via Orange and Mudgee.
“(The) first night was a fantastic experience, already donating $5k to Nundle School. We saw first hand where the fundraising money’s getting to,” they said.
Variety supports Australian children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or who are facing geographic isolation or financial hardship.
The duo’s 1973 model Rover took some coaxing from local Malcolm Regan to get on the road, with repairs just two days before the event.
There’s still time to donate to the cause online.
David and Andrew thanked the RSM Club, Dorchester Computers and all individuals who have donated so far, and The Inverell Times for their coverage.
