A couple of students were interviewed before the session and asked some questions.
Wally from Tulloona wanted to know where he gets his inspiration, Olivia from Yetman wanted to know how he goes about writing his books as she wants to be an author, Marshall from Croppa Creek thinks the Tom Weekly series is awesome and William from Bonshaw wants to read his new book The Fall as he is into crime and investigation.
A post questionnaire for the Yetman Skype session revealed that students from Tulloona and Croppa Creek learnt many things about Tristan including: he listens to music when he writes, he writes stories about his childhood and then uses exaggeration to improve them, he started writing when he was 12, he gets some of his ideas from student workshops, he usually writes about five drafts, he writes every day and his friend Gus Gordon draws cool illustrations to go with his funny stories.

“This is the first time we have organised an author to talk to students in this medium and he was received extremely well,” said MYW President Wendy Forsyth.
“Thanks firstly to McGregor Gourlay Agricultural Services Croppa Creek branch. Their donation of six Skype sessions as well as books for the schools by Tristan Bancks was a wonderful community gesture.”
“I also need to thank the technology gurus from each school; Lew Verney at Goondiwindi, Adam Pateman at Border Rivers Christian College and Jenny Kilner at Yetman.
“These people were able to have a practice session with Tristan to check that the Skype session would work effectively.
Overall six very worthwhile sessions.
“If you have been inspired to read some of Tristan’s books, I suggest you go and buy a copy.

“Two Wolves was a story that I just could not put down until I had finished,” Wendy said. Tristan’s books include the Tom Weekly series, Mac Slater (Australia and US) and Two Wolves (On the Run in the US), a crime-mystery novel for middle-graders. Two Wolves won Honour Book in the 2015 Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards and was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards.
