There were some very good scores handed in with Todd Cross and Tony Driscoll combining to take out the cup with a score of 49 points in a countback with Ben Watling and Gerry Martin.
Todd, playing off a handicap of 27 on Saturday, has featured amongst the prize winners on a regular basis since joining the club in December. His handicap continues to move down.
Tony has also been performing well and he too will lose another shot before his next game.
Bob Albinus and Phil Goddard were clubhouse leaders for quite a while with 47 points.
Simon Donnelly and Sam Horwood and John and Simon Green both returned scores of 46 points and then another 4 groups finished one behind on 45.
In the individual stableford, a very happy Scott Woodward managed an impressive 44 points.
Sam Horwood could be forgiven for thinking he had a good chance of a win with his 42 points but that was not to be, and he had to settle with second place.
John Foulcher and Todd Cross were next best with 39 points and then Gordon Dean, Simon Green, Peter Burgess and Ben Watling all returned with 39 points.
Next Saturday will be a stroke event, while Sunday will see the qualifying round of the very popular Marquardt Jug, sponsored by John and Simon Green Constructions,
The Jug is a fourball stroke and is set down for a 10:30am shotgun start.
The first round will be played next month and will continue as a knockout competition until the final in mid-October.
