Bundarra residents are being asked if they would consider establishing a Men’s Shed in the town. A public meeting will be held at the Bundarra Sport and Recreation Club at 2pm this Saturday, July 14, to discuss the idea.

A creative outlet designed to help improve men’s health through meaningful activity, the sheds invite members to make the most of their retirement and leisure time by handcrafting various community projects.

“I just feel that there’s people out there that could use those sort of facilities,” Bruce McLean said. He is keen to see a Men’s Shed in Bundarra.

Members of the Inverell and Guyra Men’s Sheds will speak at the meeting about their experiences with the facilities, and answer questions from locals.

“It’s a place where men go in their spare time, young or old, and probably learn new skills or teach other people skills,” Mr McLean said. He said women were also welcome.

“Not only that, it’s a place where you can just go and socialise, have a coffee and read the newspaper.”

The sheds focus on building a comfortable atmosphere for mateship. Inverell’s Men’s Shed has been going strong for 11 years.
