From kayak tours to pop art workshops, a wide range of free activities have been on offer for local youth this year as part of the Inverell Shire Council’s ‘It Starts with You!’ program.

Funded with a $50,000 NSW Government Youth Opportunities grant, the council has partnered with several local organisations for the 12 month program; which included a career expo with guest speaker Steven Bradbury, a free first aid course and a skateboarding workshop.
This week young people have been stretching their creative muscles at a pair of contemporary art workshops run by local artist Carolyn McCosker and learning how to build a computer at the Dust Jacket book shop.

The council is looking for feedback from locals on these and future youth events as they consider applying for another Youth Opportunities grant for next year. They will be looking for new activities to add to the calendar in 2019.
Free tickets for the Dye Hard colour run on October 6 are up for grabs for anyone who fills out the council’s two minute survey, which closes this Sunday, July 22.
Locals will go into the draw to win one of 20 tickets if they finish the survey, which is available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Youth_2019.
