On Thursday, the New England Police District hosted its first awards and medal presentation recognising the contribution and professionalism of these people.
The award ceremony, hosted at Armidale Town Hall, saw worthy recipients receive a variety of medals and certificates including the national police service medal, NSW police medals in recognition of service, police medallion lapel and oath of office.

NSW Police assistant commissioner Geoff Mckenchnie said the awards paid tribute to the courage and commitment of officers and staff on the force.
“It’s the first one, and it’s an opportunity to bring our officers together to recognise long service, significant service and really good police work that’s been occurring here and other places,” he said.
“We look forward to it every year, and coming to each of our districts and seeing the great work that’s being done by our police.
“It’s always great to see the officers, their families and representatives of government coming together to acknowledge the contribution that police make to the community.”
New England commander Superintendent Scott Tanner welcomed constable Jacob Allen and probationary constable Colin Swanbrough, probationary constable Justin Moxey and probationary constable Samuel Murray on their oath of office.
Probationary constable Ellie Capewell also received a certificate for her affirmation of office from Superintendent Tanner. Oxley commander Superintendent Fred Trench was also on hand to present awards to the staff and officers.
Distinguished guests included New England MP Barnaby Joyce, Uralla mayor Michael Pearce, Tenterfield mayor Peter Petty and executive officer Terry Dodds.
Mr Joyce commended the local police officers and staff on their commitment to the community.
”It’s a life of service which makes our nation a stronger and safer place. We are very proud,” he said.
