Ambulance officers arrived a short time later to find an elderly man lying in the middle of the pedestrian crossing in Byron Street.
Police officers, with the help of local construction workers, re-directed traffic at the two round abouts while paramedics safely transferred the man into the ambulance.
A large crowd gathered in the main street while first responders worked to ensure the man was alright.
Local police said he was very lucky to have not been seriously injured and was later treated for bruising and soft tissue damage.
Police confirmed a female driver of the motor vehicle that struck the man was spoken to and given an infringement notice for negligent driving.
Local authorities reminded drivers of the 40-kilometre per hour speed limit in the main street and advised drivers to slow down around pedestrian crossings.
