Minutes after posting on an Inverell buy, sell and swap Facebook page private messages started flooding in.

After seeing the effects of drought first-hand throughout the years, Tracey knew she wanted to help farmers out west facing tough, dry conditions.

“I’ve got around 50 acres full of high Setaria grass which is great for cattle. I have sheep and goats but it’s not suitable for them,” she said.

The initial idea was to organise a farmer to bale up her front paddocks but it proved too difficult.

Tracey said there would have been around 40-50 round bales produced had the plan come to fruition.

“Through some friends I connected with someone at Coonabarabran but logistically it was too far,” she said.

Then she decided to offer agistment to farmers out west, knowing exactly how dry conditions were out there.

Within an hour she organised with a farming family around Warialda who took up her free offer.

“Our dams are dried up but we have water from our bore near the house. We have enough water for everyone and the empty paddocks are full of feed so I thought why not?

“I know how hard it is when people are selling cattle to feed other cattle and basically loosing their livelihoods; it’s devastating,” she said.

Tracey decided she would also post her offer on a public Casino Facebook page to try and encourage others who may be in a similar situation to follow suit.

“I believe a lot of people around our area can do a lot to help our fellow farmers out west. Things are dry out here too but it’s nothing like out there,” she said.

Tracey hopes the good deed will inspire others, bring her good vibes and hopefully some rain as well.
