Locals are encouraged to take on the green this Saturday to test out their bowling skills and support our farmers facing drought.
“The money raised will go towards purchasing stock feed and fodder, and gift cards for Coles and IGA. And then Council’s come on board and donated 60,000 litres of drinking water, which we will be able to transport to those most in need,” general manager Nathan Hughes said.
With the help of a corporate sponsor, the Club will put together a number of hampers for the farmers.

“We’ve got onto local stock and station agents who are each identifying farmers who they’ve perceived as most in need of assistance, and we’ll be personally going around and delivering the stock feed, the food vouchers and the water to those people,” Nathan said.
A 1x18 ends triples, players are welcome to come along with or without a team. The $12 cost includes a sausage sizzle before the games, with member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall expected at 10am, with the competition kicking off from 11am.
The bistro will be open for lunch and dinner, with a ‘mega music line up’ entertaining from 5pm.
Nathan said the Club was approached by patrons wanting to see a local drought relief effort, and that staff were keen to personalise the campaign by delivering the donations themselves. After a wildly successful initial raffle, Inverell Easts is running a second one, with prizes donated by local businesses and tickets on sale during the bowls day.
The Club has also thrown their support behind Iron Jack’s Beers for the Bush campaign, which donates 50c from each schooner to Rural Aid; and the Parma for a Farmer campaign, which puts $1 from every parmigiana meal ordered towards Buy A Bale.
“We also run a local parmy challenge, which is a 2.5 kg parmy, and there’s prizes for the first person to finish. We decided that we’d run that and $20 from every entry from that would then go into this as well,” head chef Jennifer Maybury said.
Co-head chef Corey Turner said locals have already embraced the cause, with many donating without purchasing a parmigiana meal.
