Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall joined deputy mayor Anthony Michael in announcing the off-road cycle and walkway, alongside the construction of a pontoon, viewing platform and boardwalk for kayakers. Both projects are jointly funded by the state government and council, and together will cost $2.2 million.
Following Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Inverell council is now undertaking a review of the off-road recreational path, and is inviting shire residents’ input. .
The council says the circuit is intended to be an adaptable public facility, providing a safe off-road environment that can be enjoyed by many groups for a broad range of activities, including walking, cycling, school sporting activities such as cross country and walk-a-thons, and training circuits and obstacles for fitness.
