This year’s theme is ‘Comedy Fest’.
“It’s showing the skill that’s involved in actually presenting humorous presentations. I’d much rather go in a normal speech contest than a humorous one,” organiser David Maddigan said.
Inverell’s top senior and junior communicators will be awarded on the night.
“The youth communicators just blow your mind,” Mr Maddigan said. He said the communicator title went beyond a person’s ability to present a speech, and that the three youth nominees were academic, involved in sport and passionate about social justice.
“Honestly, when people listen to what these young people do, it’s just humbling.”
He said the senior communicators were an inspiration to everybody, and that they were awarded for their contributions to the community.
Held at the Inverell RSM Club from 6pm for a 6.30pm start on Wednesday, September 19, the dinner is a three course meal costing $35 per person. Book a table at the Inverell Tourist Centre.
Inverell Breakfast Toastmasters meet on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesday of the month from 6.15am until 8pm at Inverell RSM. Visitors are welcome.
