The Royals and MIB (Men in Black) set out to block the Beez Neez and Stafs from continuing their four year streaks in the women’s and men’s competitions respectively, but despite a pair of hard fought games, were unable to do so.
Determined for a chance in the grand finals, the Royals kept pace with the Beez Neez, forcing them into 10 minutes overtime with a score of 2-2.
“That was the best game we’ve played,” player and committee member Summer Stewart said.

“It was hard and it was physical and it was hot.”
Teresa Walsh and Emily Rutherford were the Royals’ goal scorers, while Amber Lavender and Hollie Stafford scored for the Beez Neez.
Neither team gave in, and the game ended with a draw, sending the Beez Neez on to the grand finals due to their higher place on the ladder.
The Beez Neez will now face minor premiers the Trannies, who hope to break their rival’s streak in Saturday’s game.
“It’s a 50/50 chance. It’ll be a tough game for both teams,” Stewart said.
MIB and Stafs also had a close semi final, remaining even through most of the game. Stafs’ goalie proved his worth, with MIB finding several opportunities, but only Lachlan McDonald and Lexie Livermore were able to sink one goal each.
Nick Jackson, Lachlan Hinke and Matt Jackson all hit goals for Stafs, bringing the final score up to 3-2 in their favour. Stafs will now face the men’s minor premiers, the Nutcrackers.
The grand finals are sure to be well worth a watch, says Stewart, as the two minor premier teams try to break the Beez Neez and Stafs streaks.
The women’s game will be held at the sports complex at 1.30pm and the men at 3pm, following the juniors games and presentations in the morning.
