From climbing the 10 metre ‘adventure tower’ to trying out the giant swing; six local kids were given a week to remember in the mid north coast.
The Inverell, Inverell Macintyre, Ashford and Warialda Lions Clubs all banded together to sponsor the group to attend Camp Getaway last week from Sunday, September 30 to Saturday, October 6.
Dokata Read, Alex Collins, Jaydin Penman (Warialda), Hamish Littlehales (Ashford), Narelle Isaacs and Mackensie Bright were all gifted a free trip by the Lions Clubs.
Located on Camp Elim between Wallis Lake and the Pacific Ocean, south of Forster, the site is surrounded by Booti Booti National Park. Campers, aged between 11 to 13, made the most of the park and the nearby beaches.
The theme of the camp was treasure hunt, and the youngsters were encouraged to work on their personal growth and build essential life tools as they enjoyed their break.
Night games, archery and canoeing were all part of the fun.
First established in 1992, over two thousand children have benefited from the program, which focuses on social and physical development.
