Bindaree Beef pay dispute
Well back in my days, I was a union delegate for 10 years, against one of the biggest supermarket chains and one of the strongest unions, the storeman and packers union. And then the unions had power. Firstly, if you didn’t join the union you were on your own and if you worked while all the union members were on strike you were classed as a scab. And we had a lot of battles with this company. A lot of times we ended up in court and never were forced back to work. You were a brother, you stood as one and a lot of times we reached a result that everyone was happy with - both the company and the workers. I don’t believe in street marches down the main street of the town you live in, especially the yelling abuse about a company that has been good to the town.

Our days we had a picket line in front of the gates to stop trucks from coming or going. What they had set up in the park fair enough a quiet protest you showed that you stood as one.

I wonder if some of the visa workers can’t strike? Visa requirements. Some people are afraid as well, the 1980s is as an important era but the ‘scab’ years are well over. Each to his own horses for courses and their right. Social harassment isn’t okay anymore.

The workers of Bindaree are "skilled". It's a labour intensive and volatile Industry. All workers deserve a pay increase to coincide with today's inflation. Most of these workers have shown a loyalty which should be recognised. The higher the wage increase the more economic stability is brought to the town and region. Ensuring more education, local business and medical facilities to cater for the population growth of those seeking employment in the region. It's well deserved! Support these workers! It will benefit every one.

Can you trust these workers that went against what the union is all about standing up and fight for a pay rise and better work conditions?
Geoff Marsh
That’s very old fashioned, people need to eat or pay bills and what they do is their business. You had good numbers so it’s not cool to do the old fashioned ‘scab’ cry. Our society is beyond that and you can’t blame a man for working and not wanting to strike. They may like their conditions but we all support your fight against yours. Please don’t harass people for working out of fear.

If you look at the award wage for any job be it trade, skilled or unskilled it’s an absolute joke. The people or government departments whom set these award rates pave the way for workers exploitation. How does your rate stack up? https://www.fairwork.gov.au/awards.../awards/list-of-awards

The bloke that has a 51 per cent share of Bindaree Beef is one of the biggest donators of money to the Labor party. So how is changing government going to help?
Linda Lynch
Let’s just try and receive an income above award wages in this next agreement.. Let the Polly’s attack each other .

Didn’t Bindaree Beef just win a big law suit, like a few months ago?
Benny Strong
Good on them! Bindaree wouldn’t be a thing without their workers. Fight hard all!
