Saturday’s golf saw the final of the Mills Plate completed. The Plate, a competition for those players eliminated after the first round of the Marquart Jug, is a 4-ball knockout.

Tristan Irwin and Brett Woodward managed to take out the Plate in a very even match against Col Flood and Dick Hudson. Col and Dick were two up early and pulled back to even on the 10th. Tristan and Brett lead for the first time after the 15th hole. They were back down to even on the 16th and then up one when Tristan birdied the 17th. The match ended when Col and Dick could only square the 18th hole.

Tristan and Brett progressed through the Mills Plate by defeating Dave Schofield and Preston Connors, 2 up, John Foulcher and Troy Craven, 4 and 3, Marcus Muggleton and Scott Moylan 2 and 1 and then Col and Dick 1 up.
In the daily competition the best on the day was newcomer Ben Swan with a net 62. Ben was 8 under his handicap but the handicapper was been quick to catch up with him as he is set to lose 8 shots for his next competition game. Greg Bushell, playing off a respectable 18, managed a net 63. Pierre Pudig and Mal Dickson returned with scores of 65, Todd Cross, 66, and then Jason Shaw, Mat McHarg Tony Driscoll, Graham Moore, Bruce Garrett, Dave Worgan, Gordon Dean and Doug Shirley all returned with net 68.
