Police have charged a man following investigations into alleged deliberately lit grass fires during a dangerous bushfire period in the state’s North West.

On August 22 and 23, 2018, multiple grass fires were burning near Borthwick Street, Rifle Range Road, Mcilveen Lookout and Copeton Dam Road.
NSW Fire and Rescue and NSW Rural Fire Service units responded and extinguished the fires with no reported injuries or damage to property.
Officers from New England Police District commenced inquiries and arrested an 18-year-old Inverell man on Monday.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with intention to cause fire and be reckless as to its spread and intimidation.
He was given conditional bail and will appear in Inverell Local Court on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
