Local golfer Steve Kent continued his good form to take out Inverell men’s November Monthly Mug with a net score of 64.
Steve had been leading the Hoyt Cup, a competition which adds players best eight net scores in the 12 Monthly Mugs up to and including November.
With his win on Saturday Steve took out the prized 2017-18 Hoyt Cup with the next best performers, Adam Paton and Gary Hadland, 14 shots behind.
Steve also managed to win the 2018 Order of Merit after regaining the lead last month and then finishing on top on Saturday.
Again, he was well clear of nearest rivals Doug Cross and Steve Glover.
The Order of Merit scoring allocates points to Saturday competitions throughout the year with extra weighting going to the Monthly Mugs and the four Club Championship rounds.
The grade winners of Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug after the winner, Steve Kent, was taken out were A Grade: Matt Warrell, 68, B Grade: Terry Young, 68, and C Grade: Tony Driscoll, 67.
Place Getters were Brian Winmill, 67, Steve Glover, 68, Jai Tasker, Kevin Clark, ben Green, Adam Paton and Gordon Dean all with net 69.
Nearest the pins were Ben Watling, John Lane, Paul Stirling and Jason Shaw with Jason picking up the pro-pin.
Inverell players also travelled to Glen Innes on Sunday to play the Glen Innes Open.
Inverell’s Brett Monaghan scored a 73, two over par, to take out the event in a three-way play-off that was decided on the fourth extra hole.
November 10, is a stableford competition and Sunday is a medley stableford. Players should keep in mind the Westpac Helicopter Charity Golf Day, a 3-person ambrose, coming up Sunday, November 25.
The Tuesday’s Club Championships were decided this week with Graham Moore, Dick Hudson and Alan Browett winning first, second and third Divisions.
These men won by recording the most stableford points for their best eight Monthly Mug rounds during the year.
