While full day of events is held on the Saturday, an official opening of the festival will be held on Friday, November 16 at the Tingha Sports and Rec Club.
Tingha Citizens Association chair Colleen Graham said the first Tingha Tin Prince competition will be introduced this year.
“We have always had a Tingha Tin Princess competition, but we decided to add in princes for the boys this year, and they will walk the red carpet for judging.
“We also encourage locals to enter tin sculptures pertaining to Tingha, made from scrap. These are auctioned off on Saturday night with the money assisting to improve the annual festival,” she said.
From 8am on Saturday a great variety of food and market stalls will be set up before the parade commences from downtown Tingha proceeding to the recreational grounds.
Live music will set the atmosphere all day and this year there will be a very entertaining new addition of a ‘mad cow’ ride.
“It can be ridden by five-year-olds to 65. There are records to be beaten and certificates if you can last the distance,” she said.
Continuing on with the new additions, the association will be introducing dog trails for the first time in the festival’s history.
“We have local working dog breeders who go to bigger shows exhibiting their incredibly clever dogs working/yarding sheep. This is a very exciting presentation for our festival.”
On Saturday evening, the Tingha Tin Festival Princesses will make a special appearance, along with Christine Hietbrink, from the Hub at Guyra who will introduce each princess.
Colleen invited everyone to head into Tingha next weekend to enjoy the popular festival!
