It brought to a close a distinguished career in Inverell cricket for Higgins. He has been playing with Square and Compass for nearly a decade, having had stints at many clubs since arriving in Inverell in the early 2000s .
Eric has a been a stalwart for the Compass team, captaining a young group of boys for many seasons. He was able to see them win two B grade premierships before taking them into A Grade. No doubt a highlight of his time in Inverell was captaining that young side to an A grade premiership. He was the only player over 20 years old in that team.
On top off his on-field exploits he has been an invaluable member of the Association having been President for several seasons. He has helped with curating for the country championships as well as for the Kurrajongs Test Match.
He leaves Inverell as a life member of the association and he will be sorely missed by a number of organisations in our community.
His cricket days are not lessening though as he was recently selected to play for the Australian Over 60s after a successful carnival for NSW . He will tour New Zealand in February.
We wish Eric and Vicki all the best for their sea change to Coffs Harbour.
