When the man returned an initial positive result , police said he was informed he was under arrest for the purposes of further testing.
Police said the male, who was still seated in the vehicle, then drove off at speed allegedly striking a Senior Constable.
The Senior Constable ended up on the bonnet of the vehicle, which continued driving at speed through a number of nearby streets.
Eventually the vehicle stopped, allowing the officer to get off the vehicle, before the driver allegedly sped off again.
Police said when the vehicle was located soon after, the offender had fled, but upon searching the vehicle police allegedly located a taser.
Four days later – on December 28 – police found the suspect hiding in a house in Waratah Ave, where he was arrested and later charged.
The 23-year-old man will appear in Moree Local Court on Monday.
