Hailing from Inverell, Melanie has been attending and performing at the TCMF since she was 10 years old.
The local talent was filled with mixed emotions when describing the huge achievement.
“It’s quite special for me, being my first ever headline show but a bit scary also.
“The [festival] draws so many incredible artists so I hope I have a few fans who will come and watch me,” she humbly said.
Her 2017 album’s lead single ‘Fresh’ established as a number one hit, occupying the stop spot on the official Australian Country Airplay Chart for five consecutive weeks.
On Wednesday, January 23 Melanie will headline ‘Keeping it Fresh’ at the Moonshiners Family Hotel in Tamworth, with special guests Jade Holland and Ellen Amy.
“I’ll be playing songs off the album ‘Fresh’ and brand new songs I wrote recently in Nashville. Fans have had a couple of years to learn the songs and I’m excited to give them something new as well.
“I plan on getting in the studio this year to record some new music so it will be great to get their feedback on these few new songs.”
Fresh is a stunning debut album from an artist of unique maturity, integrity and vision.
It has been described as an incandescent trailblazer at the forefront of the ‘new wave, new generation’ of pop-crossover artists with an earthy, honest country heart.
Fresh proves that, with any precious substance, be it sapphire or ruby, polished or raw, a gem is a gem, however it’s cut.
Melanie said she took a trip down memory lane whilst visiting her family at Mount Russell during Christmas.
“I found a box of old trophies and certificates from my performances at the TCMF talent quests. I think I’ve missed one festival in 15 years,” she laughed.
Any Inverell residents wishing to support Melanie’s show in Tamworth are able to do so with the help of Inverell Coaches.
Melanie said a return bus will be running from Inverell to Tamworth, leaving from the tourist centre at 8am.
“Because Paul Harmon is such an amazing supporter of local endeavours, he has been a supporter of mine since I was a little kid actually, we’ve been able to organise a bus,” she said.
