Luckily, Inverell Shire Council has a number of events organised to ensure the whole family is entertained.
In Inverell, celebrations will begin early at Victoria Park with a barbecue breakfast by the Macintyre Lions Club from 7.30am.
There will be face painting, a jumping castle, Wellards Mobile Coffee and an official Australia Day awards presentation afterwards.
Inverell’s Pipe Band, the Danthonia Youth choir and Jemima McLachlan will provide live entertainment for local residents.
Having turned his life around, Mr Fry has worked directly with at-risk youth and more recently has focused on the field of countering violent extremism and also speaking with young offenders in maximum security facilities.
Mr Fry will also travel to Delungra to participate in celebrations from 10.30am at Anzac Park. There will be a street parade, delicious food and an Australia Day award presentation.
In Ashford, an Australia Day awards presentation will be held at Walter McRae Park (driver reviver) from 8am.
For more information on either three Australia Day events, contact Inverell Shire Council on 6728 8288.
Meanwhile, the Tingha Tigers Rugby League Football Club will host an Australia Day sign on from 12pm at the Royal Hotel.
The club is calling for new faces to become Tigers in 2019 for the senior men, league tag and under 18s sides.
The whole family is invited down to enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch, raffles, an auction and yabby races which will start at 2.30pm.
There will be prizes for the best dressed Aussies on the day and Dj Parker will be on the decks.
