Calls were made to the RFS prior to 2pm today (January 16) describing a thick smoke erupting from nearby bush land.
Upon arrival, crews called for reinforcements. Around six fire trucks are currently on the scene backed by a helicopter capable of water bombing.
A Pine Ridge Road resident told The Inverell Times fire fighters were facing restricted access to the blaze due to location of the fire.
“Firies can’t get their trucks in the scrub and they’ve told us if things get worse they’ll have to start water bombing.
“We’ve been told to keep an eye on it and prepare to evacuate,” the resident said.
RFS encouraged all property owners between Schwenke's Lane and Pine Ridge Road to revise their Bushfire Survival Plan and prepare properties for potential smoke and embers.
