Youngsters put their excess energy to good use, kicking around soccer balls, trying out cricket and learning the rules of netball.
“It’s a good roll up,” organiser Greg Sparke said. Around 36 children between the ages of 8-12 took part.
“It’ll give them a bit of a go at three different sports that probably some of them have not done.”
He was pleased to have the opportunity to remind local parents and children about the many sports on offer at the centre. The InSports Arena often hosts Friday afternoon competition at various points in the year, depending on the season. Locals are welcome to contact the centre to find out more.
“Christy from the council has done a real good job,” Greg said.
“She got the numbers, she signed them up, got them here.”
A joint initiative by the indoor centre and the Inverell Shire Council, the three hour event was part of the council’s It Starts With You! project, which is supported by the NSW Government through the Youth Opportunities Program.
