Inverell Fire and Rescue were called to a grass fire behind Old Bundarra Road on Tuesday afternoon, February 12.
Even as smoke loomed over from a much larger blaze towards Tingha, two fire trucks joined local council workers in fighting off the flames from 3.30pm. Firefighters worked hard to keep the fire from encroaching on a local property.
Resources were stretched as the Inverell station prepared to send seven crews to assist in the Tingha blaze.
The NSW Rural Fire Service called a statewide Total Fire Ban for Tuesday, due to hot, dry and windy weather throughout the state.
