He took time to reflect on his experience.
Adam Marshall, in his own words
Nine houses have been destroyed so far by the fire, one damaged and thankfully 83 saved. 20 other buildings have been destroyed and 64 remain untouched by the fire.
Having spent time with some of those who lost everything today, it is gut-wrenching and our heart, thoughts and support goes out to them.
The fire crews have done tremendous work to save so many other homes and property and there’s more to come.
After depending a full day on fire grounds and on people’s properties, I continue to be amazed at how the worst situations bring out the very best in people.
I cannot speak more glowingly of the efforts of all the firefighters tackling this blaze - RFS, Fire & Rescue NSW and National Parks & Wildlife Service.
We all owe them a huge thank you!
The Essential Energy teams have also been amazing, helping restore power and replace so many charred power poles today.
Lastly, I don’t think I have ever felt as powerless ever in my life than I did today meeting locals who had lost their homes and possessions.
They displayed such stoicism in the face of everything. My heart goes out to them and we will all rally around to ensure they are supported through the next weeks and months.
