President of the Sportsground Trust Neil Daley was thrilled with the funding, which he said means the world to the local cricket teams.
“We’ve had a team and we’ve had no showers and we’ve got a young cricket side that’s really keen,” Mr Daley said.
“The toilets that are there fill with water when it rains and it’s just not good for anyone."
The grant will fund the construction of an amenities building with showers and a new toilet. It will also go towards the renewal of the existing tennis court fencing.
“The sporting sides and town are all behind this work being done," Mr Daley said.
“The tennis court has deteriorated a bit but the school has started to use it again so we’re fixing up the fence to help them as well.”
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the funding was important, and showed that small communities are not forgotten.
“It’s always the funding going to the tight-knit communities that I’m most proud to deliver because it’s the funding that means the most to the people benefiting," Mr Marshall said.
“The sportsground is a hub for the community and these upgrades will make the ground an even better event and sporting venue.
“The building will also include all associated costs for water and septic, on-site sewer management and electrical infrastructure.
