Cr Michael said the funding would allow new cameras to be installed almost up to the Police Station in Otho Street and along Captain Cook Drive.
"This will be a great asset for Inverell and extend the CCTV coverage to a wider area for better safety and more peace of mind for all our residents," he said.
Mr Joyce said the funding was committed under Round 3 of the Coalition’s $30 million Safer Communities Fund, and would allow Inverell Shire Council to address hotspot crime locations and provide critical surveillance points.

“Inverell deserves the best security we can provide and this funding will go a long way to achieving that for local people in the community,” Mr Joyce said.
“We are already delivering massive investment for the people of Inverell with major infrastructure projects such as the multi-million dollar saleyards upgrade, the new Virtual Reality Driving Simulator for Older Drivers and the $1 million we secured for Inverell in drought recovery funding.
“This added security will build on all those projects and more while providing peace of mind for local residents.”
