Hosted by Inverell Highlanders Rugby Club, around 20 teams registered for the event, offering equal prize money for men and women.
Teams from the Central North zone, including Inverell, Armidale, Narrabri and Moree, and even as far away as Melbourne played hard on Saturday to put themselves in a good position for Sunday.
The Inverell Highlanders women's team earned themselves a spot in the grand final against Armidale's UNE Lions. Although they put up a good fight, the Inverell girls were unable to secure the win.
UNE Lions took out the $3,000 cash and a set of jerseys in the women's division. Meanwhile, in the men's it was Niulife Island Breeze from Melbourne who took the win.
A heated grand final with Island Breeze and KangaNuts Brothers saw the game called off early after a fight broke out in the second half.
But Island Breeze were named winners and also took home $3,000 cash and a set of jerseys.
Organisers thanked major sponsors Rural Aid, TitanAg, Simply Print Anything and Laser Plumbing Inverell for making the tournament possible.
The 7s weekend was a great pre-season opener for the Inverell Highlanders Club who've already commenced training for 2019 with a new first grade coach from New Zealand.
