Given the current dry conditions, it is something we could all do with a good dose of. And when times get tough, it can often be hard to find.
Fortunately, it will be delivered in spades when the live performance, Kaput, debuts at the Inverell Town Hall on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:30pm.
Kaput is a highly skilled, hilariously funny and beautifully poignant bit of madness.
The Inverell Cultural Group is proud to present this multi-award winning family show that has melted hearts of all ages around the world with its glorious brand of slapstick, acrobatics and total silliness.
Be swept up in the mayhem that is the larger-than-life ‘elegant buffoon’ Tom Flanagan, as one man’s life is flipped upside-down by the lonely, dust-covered world that surrounds him.
In the style of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, our likeable, luckless hero struggles to get the upper hand, taking one step forward and two steps back until everything is ... well... kaput.
Tom Flanagan’s first solo show, Kaput, opened early 2012 to a premier sold-out season at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in the Garden of Unearthly Delights, where it was nominated for Best Circus and Physical Theatre.
It then went on to receive critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where the show won Mervyn Stutter’s Spirit of the Fringe Award and was listed by the Scotsman as one of the top five comedy shows at the Fringe.
Since then Tom Flanagan’s silent slapstick acrobatic comedy show has toured four continents, won countless awards and collected fans from five to 95 years old.
Critics around the world have hailed the show and Flanagan’s comic genius as “pure delight, a joy to watch and dangerously clever.” The Scotsman describes Kaput as “reaching in a putting a string of coloured lights around your heart.”
A performance of this calibre is truly an extraordinary treat and something that is rarely available to local audiences. Don’t miss this comic tour-de-force when it comes to Inverell.
